I was hesitant on coming to this facility, but I’m very glad I did. It definitely enforces the guidelines for building a structured life while having some freedom to still feel like a person. The camaraderie and brothers you make here helped with my recovery exponentially. The staff and therapists at Holdfast take your issues and needs to heart and assist to the best of their abilities.

Holdfast was instrumental in getting my loved one on the road to recovery. Very thankful for the faith based approach while also applying expertise in the field of addiction and recovery. A wonderful ratio of providers to patients for one on one therapy and support. My loved one left after completing a 90 day program with a plan, community and a sponsor. A new lease on life! Our biggest thanks to Holdfast and prayers for the success of your future clients.

HoldFast is a place where God restored me from the inside out. It’s more than a recovery program, it’s a Christ-centered brotherhood that helped me rebuild my life on solid ground. Through prayer, Scripture, and real accountability, I learned how to cling to God in every season and rediscovered my identity in Christ building a life of sobriety. I leave HoldFast renewed, anchored, and grateful for the grace and strength I found here, taking it one day at a time.

Combination of Neuro Faith’ Therapist, Christian based teachings. Listening and sharing each clients experiences and thoughts about we were being taught in group meetings. Also encouraged to go to AA meetings, Church and Bible Study. I haven’t sobriety for 96 Days straight since i was 15. Daily prayer and meditation combined with the Hold Fast App daily reflection schedule allowed me to stay focused on my goals of God and sobriety. I knew no one in Prescott when I moved here, now I have a brotherhood and Fellowship of Men that 100% i can count on. I am currently on Step 11 and plan on Sponsoring others as well as continuing in volunteering for others needs and bringing others to sobriety. I have a beautiful new life now that. Hold Fast brought me back ty rean honest self. Thank you Staff. I am now closer with my family.

HoldFast Recovery is “hands down” the best treatment center I have ever been to. Between the staff and brotherhood, there is genuinely something special about this place. If you’re trying to find renewed faith and become the best version of yourself, you’ve come to the right spot. Be prepared to put in the work!

Unlike no other. Holdfast has been a life saving Christian based spirit filled residential treatment center based on the 12 steps. Instead of dreading the classes and meetings I look forward to all of it. The brotherhood of men here is very strong and I’m healing Godspeed.

Amazing staff!
It is by far the best recovery center in Prescott!
There is a brotherhood at HoldFast that cannot be matched!
I highly recommend Holdfast Recovery. My life fell apart faster than a bridge collapse, I lost everything. Through, this program I gained everything. It’s not instantaneous, it’s a lifestyle, much like how living in addiction is a lifestyle.
Things didn’t fall apart overnight (although it may have seemed like it) they won’t come back together overnight.
This was a Godsend in my life, and finding this facility was only through the work of God.
There is something happening at Holdfast that has changed my course, and has allowed me to slowly regain contact with my daughter.
The staff is amazing, and this was the right place for me.
I cannot express the life change I’ve gained enough.
Go here!

The people at Holdfast Recovery has changed my life. If I needed anything such as an ID, SS Card, Drivers license, the staff help you take the steps needed to get it ! The therapist Rich specifically will ask you what kind of practical problems you have, and then solve them ! The staff here goes above and beyond for their clients ! This is an all men treatment center, and the people who run the groups and work there truly have life changing inspiring stories ! If you are a man looking for a SOLID foundation for recovery this is THE place to go . I will always have love for the staff there and my peers that I’ve met there . I can’t express enough gratitude for what Holdfast Recovery has done for me .

Brendan was on the verge of becoming a hopeless, inveterate heroin addict when he, for the sake of his young daughter, decided to turn his life around. He enlisted in the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a crew of elite hotshot firefighters based in Prescott, Arizona. Their superintendent, Eric Marsh, was in a desperate crunch after four hotshots left the crew, and seeing a glimmer of promise in the skinny would-be recruit, he took a chance on the unlikely McDonough, and the chance paid off. Despite the crew’s skepticism, and thanks in large part to Marsh’s firm but loving encouragement, McDonough unlocked a latent drive and dedication, going on to successfully battles a number of blazes and he eventually wins the confidence of the men he came to call his brothers.
Then, on June 30, 2013, while McDonough–“Donut” as he’d been dubbed by his crew–served as lookout, they confronted a freak, 3,000-degree inferno in nearby Yarnell, Arizona. The relentless firestorm ultimately trapped his hotshot brothers, tragically killing all 19 of them within minutes. Nationwide, it was the greatest loss of firefighter lives since the 9/11 attacks.
After the unfathomable loss of that day, McDonough suffered from seemingly insurmountable bouts of depression, Post-Traumatic Stress, and issues with alcohol. But the light of hope that inspired him to keep living in one of his darkest moments—his family who needed him—inspired the firefighter to fight on against depression, addiction and to inspire others to find their best selves, even if that means often looking beyond the self. Building a sense of brotherhood within communities gives McDonough great joy – because it helps this fighter honor the legacy of his 19 lost, but not forgotten, brothers.

You don’t need to come in with a strong faith — just an open heart. Our program is rooted in Christian values and uses faith as a framework for healing, but we welcome men who are spiritually curious, doubting, or simply looking for something more than a traditional rehab. Many of our clients found or renewed their faith during their time here.
Our core residential program runs a minimum of 90 days, structured across three phases. The first 60 days focus on intensive therapy (30+ hours per week), the third month transitions to skill-building and life preparation, and aftercare support continues beyond treatment. Longer stays are available and often recommended for lasting recovery.
We accept most major commercial insurance plans including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, GEHA, Carelon, ComPsych, and more. Please note: we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid. Use our insurance verification form above for a free, confidential benefits check.
Absolutely. We welcome men from all 50 states. Our admissions team can help you navigate travel logistics, and many of our clients find that leaving their home environment is actually one of the most powerful parts of their recovery. Prescott, Arizona’s natural setting becomes part of the healing process.
We offer same-day admissions when availability allows. Once you call or submit your information, an admissions specialist will reach out immediately to verify your insurance and walk you through next steps. The sooner you reach out, the sooner we can get you started.
Days at Holdfast are structured and purposeful. You can expect morning devotionals, individual and group therapy sessions, fitness activities including our CrossFit partnership, evening Christian community events, and 12-step meetings. The schedule is intentionally full — because healing happens when the mind and body are both engaged.
Yes. We specialize in dual diagnosis treatment, meaning we address addiction alongside conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder simultaneously. Our clinical team, led by Medical Director Dr. Terry Vaughan, M.D., F.A.P.A., provides comprehensive psychiatric care alongside our faith-based program.
Yes, Holdfast Recovery is a men’s-only program. This is intentional — men recover differently, and the brotherhood and community that forms in a single-gender environment is one of the things our alumni consistently cite as transformational. We have specialized tracks for veterans, first responders, and other groups within that community.
Most rehabs either focus on faith or clinical science — we built a methodology that combines both. Our NeuroFaith approach integrates brain mapping, polyvagal-informed therapy, and EMDR with Bible study, church involvement, and spiritual mentorship. You also get direct access to our founder, Brendan McDonough, whose personal story of recovery is woven into everything we do here.
Yes, family involvement is encouraged as part of a healthy recovery. We provide family support resources and communication throughout treatment, because rebuilding those relationships is often central to long-term sobriety. Our admissions team can speak with you about what family participation looks like during the intake call.
